The Founding of Exploração Lusitana

July 25th, 2956

There are dates History records, and there are dates History remembers.

July 25th, 2956 became both.

For generations, Humanity expanded ever deeper into the stars. From the first Jump Points discovered by Nick Croshaw to the founding of the United Empire of Earth (UEE), countless pioneers crossed the dark in search of a better future. They built stations where once there was only the void, founded colonies on distant worlds, and defended civilization against the Vanduul incursions and countless other threats.

Yet as the Empire grew, so too did its bureaucracy, its politics, and those who sought to decide how every citizen should live, work, and fly.

Among the millions of inhabitants of UEE space was a small group of Portuguese explorers, miners, haulers, engineers, soldiers, and dreamers who believed the stars belonged to everyone — not just to governments, corporations, or the powerful.

They had no wish to overthrow the Empire.

They sought only the freedom to choose their own path.

Bound by no corporate contracts and no political ambitions, they refused to let others decide where they would travel, what they would discover, or how they would help those they met along the way. They cast off the invisible chains of expectation, keeping only one guiding principle:

No chains on our feet. Only stars in our eyes.

And so, on July 25th, 2956, Exploração Lusitana was born.

The young organization quickly earned a reputation across the Stanton system and its neighboring regions. Its crews took on high-risk salvage missions, escorted vulnerable cargo convoys, recovered abandoned ships, charted forgotten locations, and ventured wherever curiosity led them.

As their influence grew, so did the attention they attracted.

Rumors spread through Advocacy channels and imperial offices that this independent organization refused to align with the interests of major corporations or political factions. Their growing network of allies, and their habit of showing up wherever someone needed help, made them hard to predict — and impossible to control.

Stories began to circulate that even Imperator Laylani Addison herself, determined to preserve the Empire's stability, had ordered investigations into the activities of the mysterious Lusitanian captains. True or exaggerated, it mattered little. To many, Exploração Lusitana had become a symbol of the independent travelers who chose to live beyond the expectations others imposed on them.

Rather than confront the Empire, they chose another path.

Beyond Stanton's congested trade routes and the UEE's politics, they found refuge on the frontier.

They found Nyx.

The Nyx system, centered on the abandoned mining world of Delamar and long known as a refuge for independent pilots, prospectors, traders, and everyone who wished to live far from the spotlight, welcomed them with open landing pads and cautious respect. Life there demanded resilience and determination, not social standing.

It was in Nyx that Exploração Lusitana truly found its home.

There they built friendships with miners chasing the richest ore veins, salvagers breathing new life into forgotten wrecks, haulers risking everything to keep supply lines open, bounty hunters seeking justice, medics answering desperate distress calls, and explorers always searching for the next horizon to discover.

Together they proved that a family doesn't need to share blood — only purpose.

From the bustling landing zones of Area18 and Lorville, through the clouds of Orison, across the frozen landscapes of microTech, and beyond the lawless frontiers past monitored space, the members of Exploração Lusitana became known for one simple promise:

No pilot flies alone.

Today, our organization welcomes every profession the universe has to offer.

Above all, we always remember why we first left home.

Every new recruit who joins Exploração Lusitana becomes another chapter in this story.

Our ships may differ. Our professions may change. The systems we call home may shift as Humanity pushes ever further into the unknown. But the ideals this organization was founded on remain unchanged.

No chains on our feet. Only stars in our eyes.

Ad Astra. Always United.
